The floor of the second story of this building is supported not by joists nor by beams, but instead by steel cables - which gives the floor a peculiar "sway" - said to be totally unnerving at times, when the floor bounces as you walk!

This building was acquired, in 1867, by "The Masonic and Odd Fellows Hall Association".

Here's the building, three years later, after installation of a new snow roof, a new Masonic light (from Port Richmond Lodge in California), and new paint!
