Masonic
Model Student Assistance Program
Introduction
For several years, one of the projects of the Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Nevada has been the "Masonic Model Student Assistance Program". This project is funded by the Nevada Masonic Charities Foundation - administered by our Grand Lodge - a non-profit fund based primarily on donations from Nevada's Freemasons. This is yet another example of how Masons quietly support our society, without much fanfare or request for recognition.
This project helps to "educate the educators" - helping them to learn how to recognize children at risk of substance abuse, violence, suicide or depression, how best to help them, and how to "stay with them" to assist them throughout their educational experience. The professional trainers - the training materials - the meals - the accomodations - are all provided to the educators at no charge ... the course is a very intensive three-day seminar, with emphasis on teaching teams of educators to recognize and assist our nation's at-risk youth.

In the Summer 2005 issue of the Masonic Model Student Assistance Program "Update" newsletter, Nevada was honored with a front-page article about our program and one of its recent successful programs - you can see just that page HERE, or you can see the entire issue HERE. (The front page is a 420k file, the entire issue - eight pages - is 1020k - as Adobe PDF files.)
And now, as they say ... On to the show!
